Our beautiful handmade Silk Suzani Embroidery originates from Uzbekistan, a region globally renowned for centuries as a major epicentre of textile art. This large-scale, breath-taking piece showcases the pinnacle of Central Asian embroidery, where master craftswomen spend months hand-stitching intricate stories across vast panels of fabric.

The word "Suzani" comes from Farsi language, which is derived from the word "Suzan", which means needle and Suzani, meaning made by needle or needlework. Rooted deeply in regional heritage, these grand textiles were historically stitched by mothers and daughters as prized dowry masterpieces. On this gorgeous piece, the design features a striking central starburst medallion and circular corner wreaths, surrounded by a field of delicate blossoms. Framing the center is a prominent border beautifully decorated with floral wheels, curved boteh motifs, and stylised pomegranates. In Uzbek culture, the pomegranate is a sacred, historic symbol of life, fertility, abundance and prosperity.

Crafted on a cotton base and intricately embroidered with silk thread, this authentic "silk on cotton" Bukhara Suzani is entirely hand-stitched by local women in their village homes. Unlike mass-produced, machine-made replicas, a piece of this impressive scale reflects an extraordinary investment of time, patience, and traditional skill, preserving a heritage art form that commands presence in any room.

You may notice pen lines beneath the threads or in other areas of the fabric, as well as small, regular pinholes along the outer edges of the fabric. The lines are the original sketches hand-drawn by the artisan across the wide fabric canvas to guide her needle during the complex embroidery process. The tiny edge holes are historic "tentering marks", natural impressions left by the traditional wooden loom used to hold the cotton base tight under tension during the weaving process.

Fabric creases, minor variations in the stitching density, occasional loose threads, small spots and other irregularities are natural characteristics of handmade pieces, not defects. These details offer a glimpse into the artisan’s work, making this statement piece a unique example of Central Asian embroidery with its own individual character.

Highly versatile in upscale interior styling, it can be hung as a dramatic wall tapestry, draped as a luxurious bedspread, or layered as a spectacular statement tablecloth to bring a refined, global legacy into your home
